'Abdu'l-Bahá—beloved of the hearts of millions of souls—was the son of Bahá'u'lláh, the Author of the Bahá'í teachings. Considered by the Bahá'í community to be the very embodiment of his Father's teachings, and a perfect example to aspire to in their own lives.
The 27th of November 2021, marked the centenary of his passing. Gatherings in his remembrance were held by Bahá'í communities throughout the world.
Commemorations were also held around Dumfries and Galloway, including screenings of a short film, Exemplar, about this unique and blessed man.
'Abdu'l-Bahá
Monday, 29th November, at 2 p.m.
Greyfriars House, Saint Cuthbert Street
(next to Greyfriars Church and opposite the Co-op shop in Kirkcudbright. There is ample parking at the nearby car park at the Harbour Square)
The Kirkcudbright Bahá'ís have organised a small, face-to-face public gathering in Kirkcudbright to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the passing of 'Abdu'l-Baha. This occasion is of great significance to Bahá'ís who turn to 'Abdu'l-Bahá as their example to follow in their daily lives. During His lifetime, Abdu'l-Baha was known in many countries of the world, even though during most of His life He was under arrest, as were the rest of His family, for expounding His Father Bahá'u'lláh's Teachings. His fame as He travelled in the early 20th Century has been likened to that of the Dalai Lama's today. He was known for His infinite love and understanding, and He became a world-wide summoner to peace at a time when so many countries were on the brink of World War 1.
This meeting will be short and simple with prayers and some stories of the life of 'Abdu'l-Bahá. Afterwards there will be refreshments, chat and hopefully laughter too! Bringing joy to hearts was one of 'Abdu'l-Bahá's main aims in life.
